Dwelling in the Light of His Presence
“For the Souls in Purgatory – Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord”

Psalm 27:1–14
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear?
The Lord is my life’s refuge; of whom should I be afraid?
When evildoers come at me to devour my flesh,
My foes and my enemies themselves stumble and fall.
Though an army encamp against me, my heart will not fear;
Though war be waged upon me, even then will I trust.
One thing I ask of the Lord, this I seek:
To dwell in the Lord’s house all the days of my life,
To gaze on the Lord’s beauty, to visit His temple.
For God will hide me in His shelter in time of trouble,
He will conceal me in the cover of His tent;
He will set me high upon a rock.
Even now my head is held high above my enemies on every side!
I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and chant praise to the Lord.
Hear my voice, Lord, when I call;
Have mercy on me and answer me.
“Come,” says my heart, “seek His face”;
Your face, Lord, do I seek!
Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not repel Your servant in anger.
You are my helper; do not abandon or forsake me,
God my savior!
Even if my father and mother forsake me,
The Lord will take me in.
Lord, show me Your way;
Lead me on a level path because of my enemies.
Do not give me up to the desires of my foes,
For false witnesses have risen against me,
And they breathe out violence.
I believe I shall see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord, take courage;
Be stouthearted, wait for the Lord!
Grace Prayed For
The grace to seek the Lord’s face in prayer, to rest in His Word, and to become a living presence of His love in the world—courageously trusting that His light shines through me even in times of darkness.
Reflection
In this psalm, David reveals what the human heart most deeply longs for—to live continually in the radiant presence of God. His cry is not for safety or success, but for intimacy: “One thing I ask… to dwell in the house of the Lord.” When I pray these words, I hear my own soul echoing the same desire: to abide in the heart of my Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and to let that abiding transform the way I love, speak, and move in the world.
Through Prayer, I learn to quiet my fears and to trust in the One who shelters me. Through the Word, I gaze upon the beauty of the Lord revealed in Jesus—the Word made flesh who has entered my darkness and filled it with light. And through Presence, I recognize that I already dwell in His house when I live in communion—with Him in the Eucharist, with my brothers and sisters in love, and with all creation renewed by His grace.
When I bring this awareness into each encounter, I am no longer merely living my life—I am letting Jesus love through me. His light becomes my light; His mercy my word; His compassion my presence. The mission of the baptized is to carry this divine intimacy into the ordinary—the grocery line, the workplace, the family table—until the whole world becomes His dwelling place.
Waiting for the Lord is not passive; it is an active surrender, a daily choice to let His love be the source and aim of all I do. As I learn to wait with courage, I am drawn deeper into His mission: to restore all creation by love, beginning with my own heart.
Daily Evangelization and Baptismal Mission
Ways to Evangelize Day-to-Day
Live eucharistically: Let gratitude and self-giving shape each day—every act of kindness becomes participation in Christ’s redeeming love.
Be a living invitation: Speak gently and act compassionately so that others feel seen, loved, and welcomed—this is Christ shining through you.
Share your story: When someone struggles, quietly witness to how Jesus has carried you through fear into trust; your lived encounter can awaken faith in them.
Pray with others: Offer a moment of prayer when someone shares a burden; that simple act opens hearts to divine presence.

Sharing
Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
