“Jesus Unites Us in Love”

“For the Souls in Purgatory – Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord”

Acts 2:42–47

They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one’s need. Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

Grace Prayed For

Pray for the grace to recognize and embrace the gift of being united in Christ’s Body, to share and to receive His love in every encounter, and to let that love overflow in witness and mission.

Reflection

When I sit with this passage, I see how Jesus draws me into something greater than myself: His Body, alive and breathing in the Church. The first believers discovered that to belong to Christ is to belong to one another — in teaching, in prayer, in breaking bread, in caring for each other’s needs. Their joy was contagious because it flowed from the love of the risen Lord, who had knit their lives together in the Spirit.

Jesus unites me to His Body not simply so that I may be comforted, but so that I may be sent. To share and to receive — this is the rhythm of Christian life. I give from what Christ has given me: forgiveness, hope, encouragement, mercy. And I receive from others: their witness, their prayer, their example of faith. In this sacred exchange, Christ Himself becomes visible.

To live this way is to live Eucharistically — my whole life becoming a “breaking of bread” for others. My Trinitarian God is not distant but present in each encounter: the Father’s providence sustaining me, the Son’s sacrifice saving me, the Spirit’s fire guiding me. If I open my heart to this mystery, then each person I meet is no longer a stranger, but a brother or sister through whom Christ draws me deeper into His Body.

The mission cannot wait. Just as the Lord added daily to the early Church, so too He longs to draw others through the witness of my daily life. Jesus has loved me with a love stronger than death, and that love must overflow — in kindness, in courage, in mercy, in joy. This is how His Body grows: not only in the temple, not only in the breaking of bread, but in every encounter where love is shared and received.

Announcing Jesus in Our Lives

Ways to Evangelize in Daily Life
  • Share Jesus’ impact on your life in simple, personal ways — not abstract ideas, but how His love has healed, strengthened, or guided you.
  • Live the Gospel with integrity — practicing patience, kindness, honesty, and forgiveness, even when it costs you.
  • Invite others into prayer or worship — offering to pray with someone in need, or extending an invitation to Mass or adoration.
  • Be attentive to the overlooked — reaching out to the lonely, the hurting, or the excluded, showing them they are part of Christ’s Body.
  • Speak words of hope — in a culture often marked by cynicism, let your words point to the joy of Christ alive in you.

Sharing

Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
