Today’s Theme for Prayer – God Desires to Forgive Me
Deeper Sense of His Mercy for Me

1 Jn 4:7-12
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.
Grace Prayed For
Pray for the grace to love not just in word, but in deed. To move beyond sentimentality and embrace love as an active force in your life. Ask for the ability to love even those who are difficult to love, mirroring God’s unconditional love for us.
Love’s Echo in Us
This passage from 1 John 4:7-12 speaks of the very essence of God: love. It’s a powerful reminder that love isn’t just a feeling, but an action, a choice, a reflection of the divine nature within us.
“Let us love one another, because love is of God.” This sets the stage. Love isn’t something we conjure up on our own. It flows from the very source of our being. When we love, we participate in something sacred, something that connects us to God and to each other.
“Everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God.” To love is to be born of God, to carry a spark of the divine within. Think about that – loving others is a sign of God’s presence in our lives. It’s a way of knowing God, of experiencing God’s reality in a tangible way.
“Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.” This is a powerful statement. It doesn’t condemn, but rather reveals a profound truth. Without love, we remain distant from the heart of God. To truly know God is to embrace love as a way of life.
The passage then moves to the ultimate act of love: “In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him.” God’s love isn’t just a concept; it’s embodied in the sacrifice of Jesus. Through him, we are offered forgiveness, healing, and eternal life.
“In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins.” This turns our human understanding of love on its head. It’s not about our efforts to reach God, but about God’s relentless pursuit of us. We are loved unconditionally, even when we fall short.
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another.” Here’s the challenge. In light of God’s immense love for us, how can we not extend that same love to others? Our love for each other becomes a response to God’s love, a way of honoring the gift we have been given.
Finally, “No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.” This is a beautiful promise. Though we may not see God with our physical eyes, God’s presence is made real in the love we share. Through loving others, we become vessels of God’s love, allowing it to flow through us and touch the world.
Take a moment to reflect on this passage. How can you be a more loving presence in the world today? How can you let God’s love shine through you in your interactions with others?
Growing in Intimacy with Jesus
The passage emphasizes that God’s very essence is love. When we grasp this truth, we begin to see Jesus in a new light. Every action, every word, every miracle He performed was an expression of this divine love.

Sharing
Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
