A Father’s Love: Provision and Peace

“For the Souls in Purgatory – Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord”
Luke 12:22-32

He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food and the body more than clothing. Notice the ravens: they do not sow or reap; they have neither storehouse nor barn, yet God feeds them. How much more important are you than birds! Can any of you by worrying add a moment to your life-span? If even the smallest things are beyond your control, why are you anxious about the rest? Notice how the flowers grow. They do not toil or spin. But I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of them. If God so clothes the grass in the field that grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith? As for you, do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not worry anymore. All the nations of the world seek for these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these other things will be given you besides. Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.

Grace Prayed For

The grace for a deeper trust in the Father’s care, allowing us to release our anxieties and seek His Kingdom with confidence.

Reflection

In this passage, Jesus gently reminds us of our Father’s unwavering care. He invites us to release our anxieties about the material necessities of life, urging us to consider the birds and the flowers, all of whom are provided for by God. This isn’t just about meeting our basic needs; it’s an invitation to a deeper trust, a recognition that our lives are held in the loving hands of a Father who knows our needs even before we ask. This passage calls us to a radical dependence on God, a dependence that frees us to seek His Kingdom above all else, confident that He will provide for us. It challenges us to take this message into the world, sharing this liberating truth with everyone we encounter, offering them the same invitation to trust in a Father who loves and provides.

Growing in Intimacy/Union with Jesus

This passage reveals Jesus as the one who intimately knows the Father’s heart. He speaks with authority and tenderness about the Father’s care, inviting us into that same intimate relationship. By following Jesus’s teachings, we draw closer to Him and, in turn, closer to the Father He reveals. We begin to see the world through His eyes, trusting in the same Father He trusted.

Sharing

Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
