Today’s Theme for Prayer – God Gives Himself to Me
Power to Rejoice in My Union With God

1 Jn 5:11-15
And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever possesses the Son has life; whoever does not possess the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you so that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God. And we have this confidence in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, we know that what we have asked him for is ours.
Grace Prayed For
An intimate relationship with the Father: The confidence to approach God with our requests stems from a loving relationship. Pray for the grace to cultivate a deeper intimacy with the Father, to know His will more clearly, and to experience His loving presence in your life.
The Gift of the Son
This passage from 1 John 5:11-13 whispers a profound truth, a love letter from God penned in the ink of eternity. It speaks of a gift so breathtaking, so extravagant, that it redefines our very existence: eternal life in His Son.
Imagine holding a tiny seed in your hand. It seems insignificant, almost lifeless. Yet, within that seed lies the potential for a towering tree, branches reaching for the heavens, roots digging deep into the earth. This is what it means to possess the Son. He is the seed of eternal life planted within us, a life that bursts forth with vibrant growth, transforming us from the inside out.
But this passage doesn’t merely speak of a future promise, a distant inheritance. It declares that we already possess this life, here and now. “You who believe in the name of the Son of God,” it proclaims, “you have eternal life.” Not “will have,” but have. This is the present tense of a love that transcends time itself.
And with this life comes an incredible confidence, a boldness to approach our Father. “If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” Imagine the intimacy of that relationship! To know that the God who spoke the universe into being leans in to hear your whispers, your hopes, your fears. He doesn’t just hear; He responds. “We know that what we have asked him for is ours.” This isn’t a blank check for earthly desires, but an assurance that our Father longs to give us good gifts, gifts that align with His perfect will and draw us closer to Him.
So let us rest in this truth today. Let us sink deep into the knowledge that we are loved, that we are chosen, that we possess the very life of God within us. And let us approach Him with confidence, knowing that He hears us, He loves us, and He longs to pour out His blessings upon us.
Growing in Intimacy with Jesus
Living in the Light of Eternity: The knowledge that we have eternal life in Christ changes our perspective on everything. It frees us from the fear of death and allows us to live with purpose and joy. This sense of belonging to something greater than ourselves, of being loved eternally by God, creates a profound intimacy with Jesus.
When Time Allows Reflect on the Posts in Library and Musings
Sharing
Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
