Today’s Theme for Prayer – God Chooses to Make Me

Jn 1:1-18
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. A man named John was sent from God. He came for testimony, to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world came to be through him, but the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, but his own people did not accept him. But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born not by natural generation nor by human choice nor by a man’s decision but of God. And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth. John testified to him and cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.’” From his fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace, because while the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. The only Son, God, who is at the Father’s side, has revealed him.
Grace Prayed For
Pray for the grace to fully accept Jesus and His love, even when it feels difficult or uncomfortable. Ask for the courage to belong to Him wholeheartedly, even if it means standing apart from the world.
The Logos Revealed: Understanding the Divinity of Christ
This prologue of John’s Gospel is a love letter whispered from eternity. It draws us into the very heart of God, revealing the mystery of the Word made flesh, and invites us into an intimate dance with the Divine.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” These words echo with the power of creation itself. Before time began, before the first star ignited, there was the Word, the divine Logos, existing in perfect unity with God. This Word, this Jesus, is not an afterthought, but the eternal expression of God’s very being.
“All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be.” Imagine the vastness of the universe, the intricate beauty of a single flower, the complexity of the human soul – all of it brought into existence through Him! He is the architect of creation, the life-giving force that sustains all things. To know Him is to touch the very essence of existence.
“What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” In a world shrouded in shadows, He is the radiant light, piercing the darkness with hope and truth. Even when darkness seems overwhelming, His light persists, a beacon of love that cannot be extinguished.
“And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.” This is the heart of the mystery! The eternal Word, the creator of all, stepped into human history, clothed in our frailty, yet radiating the glory of God. He walked among us, sharing our joys and sorrows, revealing the Father’s heart.
“He came to what was his own, but his own people did not accept him. But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God…” This is the invitation to intimacy. He came to His own, longing for connection, yet was rejected. But to those who open their hearts, who receive Him with faith, He offers the incredible gift of becoming children of God, heirs to His kingdom, partakers of His divine nature.
“From his fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace…” His grace is overflowing, abundant, replacing our emptiness with His fullness. It’s a grace that empowers us to live a life of love and truth, reflecting His glory in the world.
This passage invites us to marvel at the majesty of Christ, to embrace His light, and to surrender to His transforming grace. It’s a call to intimacy, to walk hand-in-hand with the One who created us, who redeemed us, and who longs to dwell within us. May we respond with open hearts and lives surrendered to His love.
Growing in Intimacy with Jesus
Recognizing Jesus as the Creator of all things fosters a profound sense of wonder and appreciation for Him. As we observe the beauty and complexity of the world around us, we are drawn closer to the One who spoke it all into existence. This awareness deepens our connection to Him.
When Time Allows Reflect on the Posts in Library and Musings
Sharing
Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
