Today’s Theme for Prayer – God Chooses to Make Me

Is 54:4-12
Do not fear, you shall not be put to shame; do not be discouraged, you shall not be disgraced. For the shame of your youth you shall forget, the reproach of your widowhood no longer remember. For your husband is your Maker; the LORD of hosts is his name, Your redeemer,* the Holy One of Israel, called God of all the earth. The LORD calls you back, like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, A wife married in youth and then cast off, says your God. For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with great tenderness I will take you back. In an outburst of wrath, for a moment I hid my face from you; But with enduring love I take pity on you, says the LORD, your redeemer. This is for me like the days of Noah: As I swore then that the waters of Noah should never again flood the earth, So I have sworn now not to be angry with you, or to rebuke you. Though the mountains fall away and the hills be shaken, My love shall never fall away from you nor my covenant of peace be shaken, says the LORD, who has mercy on you. O afflicted one, storm-battered and unconsoled, I lay your pavements in carnelians, your foundations in sapphires; I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.
Grace Prayed For
Grace to Release Shame and Fear: The passage begins with “Do not fear, you shall not be put to shame.” Pray for the grace to let go of past regrets, mistakes, and any feelings of unworthiness that hold you back from experiencing God’s love fully.
Finding Comfort in God’s Embrace
This passage from Isaiah speaks of a love that endures, a love that redeems, a love that rebuilds. It’s a love letter from God to His people, a tender reassurance whispered to a heart burdened by shame and sorrow.
Imagine a woman, weathered by life’s storms, carrying the weight of past mistakes and the pain of loss. She feels abandoned, forgotten, perhaps even unworthy of love. But then, a voice breaks through the darkness, a voice filled with compassion and tenderness. It’s the voice of her Maker, her Redeemer, the Lord of Hosts, calling her back to Himself.
He speaks of forgetting the shame of her youth, the reproach of her widowhood. He reminds her that He is her husband, her protector, her provider. He acknowledges the pain of separation, the feeling of abandonment, but assures her that it was only for a brief moment. With great tenderness, He takes her back, His enduring love overshadowing any past failings.
He even swears an oath, invoking the imagery of Noah’s flood, promising never again to be angry with her or rebuke her. His love, He declares, is unshakeable, unwavering, like mountains that stand firm even when the earth trembles.
And then, He paints a picture of restoration, of beauty rising from ashes. He adorns her with precious stones, rebuilding her life with strength and splendor. He replaces her affliction with joy, her storm-battered spirit with peace and consolation.
This passage is an intimate invitation to experience the depths of God’s love, a love that heals, restores, and transforms. It’s a reminder that no matter how far we may have strayed, no matter how broken or unworthy we may feel, God’s love remains steadfast. He is always ready to welcome us back, to embrace us with His mercy and grace.
As we reflect on these words, let us allow them to penetrate our hearts, to wash away any lingering shame or fear. Let us surrender to the embrace of our loving Redeemer, trusting in His promise to never leave us or forsake us. And may we, like the woman in this passage, find our true home in His unwavering love, where our foundations are secure, our walls are strong, and our hearts are filled with the radiant beauty of His presence.
Growing in Intimacy with Jesus
Recognizing Jesus’ Unconditional Love: The imagery of a husband who takes back his wife despite past hurts speaks volumes about the unconditional love of Jesus. He doesn’t hold your failings against you. He embraces you with tenderness and compassion, inviting you into a deeper relationship.

Sharing
Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
