Radiant Reconciliation: Living Out God’s Lavish Love

“For the Souls in Purgatory – Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord”

Romans 5:1-11

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For Christ, while we were still helpless, died at the appointed time for the ungodly. Indeed, only with difficulty does one die for a just person—though perhaps for a good person one might even find courage to die. But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. How much more then, since we are now justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from the wrath. Indeed, if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, how much more, once reconciled, will we be saved by his life. Not only that, but we also boast of God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Grace Prayed For

This passage prompts us to pray for the grace of unwavering hope rooted in God’s transformative love, enabling us to boast in both His glory and our afflictions, and to share His peace and reconciliation with all we meet.

Reflection

Reading these words from Romans 5 is like hearing the very heartbeat of God, a melody of unwavering love and unshakeable hope that resonates deep within my own spirit. When I reflect on how Jesus has loved me, I see this passage as a living testament to His profound impact on my life. I remember times of struggle, moments when I felt truly helpless, like those “ungodly” ones Paul speaks of. Yet, it was precisely in those moments that Christ’s love proved itself most powerfully. He didn’t wait for me to be perfect; He met me in my brokenness, just as He met you. His death on the cross wasn’t just a historical event; it was a personal sacrifice for me, for you, a reconciliation offered when we were still enemies. This love, poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, is not a fleeting emotion but a tangible, transforming power. It’s the grace that allows me to embrace difficulties, knowing that they can produce endurance and character, ultimately deepening my hope. This hope, dear one, is not a wishful thought; it’s a confident expectation because it’s rooted in the unchanging love of God. This intimate journey with the Trinitarian God means recognizing that His love isn’t just for me to savor privately, but to radiate. It calls me to share and receive that love in every encounter, allowing His peace to shine through me, drawing others into the same transformative embrace.

Sharing

Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
