Sent with the Spirit, Loved by the Father

“For the Souls in Purgatory – Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord”

John 14:21-26

Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.” Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him, “Master, [then] what happened that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me. “I have told you this while I am with you. The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name—he will teach you everything and remind you of all that [I] told you.

Grace Prayed For

The grace to welcome Jesus and the Father into the depths of your heart, and to be attentive to the Holy Spirit who teaches, reminds, and sends you.

Reflection

In the stillness that follows the Resurrection, Jesus speaks a promise that is breathtaking in its tenderness: the Father and the Son will come to us and make their dwelling with us. The risen Jesus is not distant; he desires to live within us. His resurrection is not only a triumph over death but an invitation into divine intimacy—a love that comes to stay.

Jesus links this indwelling presence to love: not a vague sentiment, but love shown in fidelity, in keeping his word, in living a life aligned with his commands. This is the love that draws the Trinity into our hearts. And we are not left alone to figure it out. The Holy Spirit—the Advocate—comes to teach, to remind, to console. The Spirit empowers us to live out the Great Commission not as isolated laborers but as beloved children filled with divine life.

In this post-Easter moment, Jesus calls you to realize that the Resurrection isn’t just about life after death—it is about life within you now. Through the Advocate, Jesus reveals himself to you daily. And in that abiding presence, you are sent—sent to love, to witness, to make disciples, because God himself dwells in you.

Growing in Intimacy/Union with Jesus

This passage reveals that intimacy with Jesus is not achieved through striving alone, but through loving obedience and welcome. When we love him by keeping his word, he does not simply visit—he dwells. The Holy Spirit then becomes the breath within our soul, drawing us ever deeper into the mystery of divine love. This is the inner sanctuary from which mission flows.

Sharing

Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
