Jeremiah 1:4-7

The word of the LORD came to me: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.  “Ah, Lord GOD!” I said, “I do not know how to speak. I am too young!” But the LORD answered me, “Do not say, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak.

Grace Prayed For: How Does God Call Me?

The world is a muffled hush before speech, a swirling nebula of potential. Then, a presence, a voice that vibrates through your core, not with sound, but with knowing. It’s a warmth that spreads from your center outwards, wrapping you in a sense of purpose before you even understand what purpose means.

The voice speaks, not in words yet, but in emotions, a tapestry woven with anticipation and a flicker of fear. “Before you were even a thought,” it whispers, “I knew you.” The sensation is like basking in the afterglow of a dream, a memory of something both ancient and yet-to-be.

“I have shaped you,” the voice continues, a sculptor’s touch molding the formless clay of your being. You feel the press of destiny, a gentle but insistent force guiding you towards an unknown path. A tremor of excitement ripples through you, the promise of creation, of leaving your mark on the world.

But then, a cold dread creeps in. “I am too young,” you try to whimper, the formless thought struggling to take shape. The vastness of the task, the weight of the voice’s expectations, press down on you. You are a wisp of smoke, a flicker of consciousness, how can you possibly be the instrument of something so grand?

The voice softens, a reassuring hand on your trembling form. “Do not say ‘I am too young,'” it murmurs. It feels like a warm breeze pushing past your fear, clearing the way for courage. “Wherever I send you, you shall go,” it continues, a promise and a command woven into one.

You take a shaky breath, a new sensation, the air filling your formless being. The fear doesn’t vanish, but it shrinks, pushed back by the burgeoning sense of trust. “Whatever I command you, you shall speak,” the voice concludes. And with that, a spark ignites within you, a nascent flame of language, waiting to be fanned into a life-giving fire.

The world, once silent, now hums with possibility. You are a vessel, a conduit, chosen to carry the voice that shaped you into the world. The formless you are becoming formed, a voice destined to speak, a life chosen for a purpose yet to be fully grasped. And in that trembling anticipation, you step forward, ready to answer the call.

Sharing

Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
