The Breath of the Sent
“For the Souls in Purgatory – Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord”

John 20:21
“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.'”
Grace Prayed For
I ask for the grace to trust in my divine commissioning and to feel the weight of Christ’s peace as the foundation of my daily purpose.
Reflection
There is a staggering symmetry in these few words. Jesus does not merely give us a task; he gives us his own identity. To be sent “as the Father sent me” is to enter into the same stream of intimacy, sacrifice, and radical love that defined Christ’s own life. It is an invitation to move beyond the locked doors of our fears and into the expansive, often messy reality of the world, carrying nothing but the breath of God.
When Jesus speaks “Peace be with you,” he isn’t offering a polite greeting or the absence of conflict. He is offering Shalom—a wholeness that restores what was broken. This peace is the essential equipment for the journey. We cannot be sent if we are still at war with ourselves. By receiving his peace first, we realize that our mission is not fueled by our own frantic efforts or “doing enough,” but by the quiet, steady pulse of being loved by the Father.
To be “sent” means we are never truly alone in our labor. Just as the Father was always with the Son, the Son remains with us. Our daily lives—the mundane chores, the difficult conversations, the moments of hidden service—become the very ground of our apostleship. We are sent to be the physical presence of a God who is still seeking out the lost and the weary.
Intimacy with Jesus means recognizing that he trusts us with his most precious work. He looks at our hands, our voices, and our hearts and says, “These will do.” We are the continuing story of the Resurrection. As we step out today, let us move with the confidence of those who know where they come from and Whom they belong to. We are not just wandering; we are commissioned.

Sharing
Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
