“Sent by the Spirit: Intimacy and Mission in the Trinity”

“For the Souls in Purgatory – Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord”

John 16:7‑15

“But I tell you the truth: it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes he will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you will no longer see me; concerning condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; he will not speak on his own, but he will speak whatever he hears and he will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”

Grace Prayed For

“Holy Spirit, deepen my intimacy with the Father and the Son; breathe in me your presence, that in every encounter I may both receive your love and share your love.”

Reflection

Jesus speaks to his disciples — and to us — of a departure that opens a deeper presence: “it is better for you that I go … I will send him to you.” His going away is not abandonment but transformation: the coming of the Advocate, the Spirit of truth, is the key to intimacy with God. When Jesus returns to the Father, the Spirit comes to dwell within, to convict, to guide, to reveal. That Spirit is the bridge to communion: communion with Jesus, communion with the Father, communion with the life of the Trinity.
In this passage we are invited into that inner life: not merely knowing about God, but receiving God’s presence, being led by the Spirit into “all the truth.” We are drawn into a relationship of love — where the Father’s fullness belongs to the Son, and the Spirit takes of that fullness and gives it to us. We are drawn into the Triune life: Father, Son and Spirit, dwelling in us, among us, and flowing through us.
And this mission is ours: because the Spirit glorifies Jesus by declaring to us what is his, we become participants in that mission. We are not passive. We are invited to let the love we have received shine in each encounter. Intimacy with the Holy Spirit means allowing the Spirit’s presence to shape our thoughts, words and actions — so that we become channels of that love, pursuing the mission of restoring creation and bearing witness to the Gospel.
In every conversation, in every moment of meeting another, the Advocate is there: convicting hearts, guiding into truth, declaring what is Christ’s. When you pray for grace to share and receive in all your encounters, you align yourself with that Trinitarian flow of love. You allow the Spirit to work through your life, so that the love of the Father-Son-Spirit shines forth from you.
Let this passage sink in: you are sent into the world with the same Spirit that Jesus sends. In that sending you are not alone. You are joined with Christ and the Father. Allow the Spirit to lead you into all truth — truth about yourself, truth about God, truth about your neighbor. And let that truth manifest in love, service, encounter, mission.
You’ve already been loved by Jesus; you’ve already accepted that love. Now you are called to let that love flow in your encounters. The Spirit helps you live it. The Father gives it. The Son reveals it. May you step into that intimate life, and may it overflow into every person you meet.

Daily Evangelization and Baptismal Mission

Evangelizing in Day-to-Day Life

Be present and attentive. In your routine interactions (work, home, errands, neighborhood), invite the Spirit to make you aware of the other person’s needs — emotionally, spiritually, practically. A simple question, a kind word, a listening ear can open the door for God’s love to shine.

Sharing

Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
