Today’s Theme for Prayer – Jesus Makes Me His Intimate Disciple

As we pray let us remember the souls in purgatory or on their purification journey. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace

How Do I Gain Deeper Personal Knowledge of God

Since the light of spiritual knowledge is the intellect’s life, and since this light is engendered by love for God, it is rightly said that nothing is greater than divine love (cf. 1 Cor. 13:13). St. Maximus the Confessor

“When the Storms Come: A Life Rooted in Jesus”

Mt 7:21-27

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’ Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.’

Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.

And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.

Grace Prayed For

The grace of deep interior conversion—a heart truly known by Jesus, surrendered to his will, and firmly rooted in his love.

Reflection

Jesus’ words pierce deeply, reaching beyond our actions to the very core of our hearts. He does not seek mere displays of devotion, nor is he satisfied with words alone. He desires intimacy—a love so real, so transformative, that it moves us to live entirely in the will of the Father.

It is not enough to say, “Lord, Lord.” It is not even enough to perform miracles in his name. The question is: Do we know him? More importantly, does he know us? To be known by Jesus is to live in union with his heart, to be shaped by his voice, to allow his love to form the very foundation of our lives.

The house built on rock is the life anchored in Christ—one that does not just hear his words but allows them to take root, to bear fruit in obedience and surrender. The house built on sand may look sturdy for a time, but when the storms come, it is revealed for what it is—fragile, unstable, unable to stand. If our faith is built only on appearances, on words without substance, on deeds without love, then we are vulnerable to collapse.

Jesus is the rock. To build our lives on him means to trust him completely, to surrender to his will, to allow his love to shape every choice, every thought, every moment. The storms will come. The floods will rise. But if we remain in him, if we abide in his love, we will stand firm, upheld by the strength of the One who calls us his own.

Growing in Intimacy/Union with Jesus

True intimacy with Jesus is found not in words alone but in a heart conformed to his will. When we surrender to his voice, allowing his love to shape our lives, we come to know him as he desires to be known—not just as Lord in name, but as the very foundation of our being. In this surrender, we experience the security of his presence, the steadfast love that holds us firm even in the fiercest storms.

Sharing

Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
