Scripture Reflection February 9th 2026

The Immediate Invitation

“For the Souls in Purgatory – Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord”

Mark 1:14-15

After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

Grace Prayed For

I pray for the grace of Spiritual Urgency—that I may recognize that the time to grow closer to God is now, not in some distant future.

Reflection

Jesus begins His ministry with a call to “repent”—which literally means to change one’s mind or direction. It is not just about feeling sorry for the past; it is about realigning your life with the reality of the “Kingdom.” Intimacy with Jesus starts when we stop saying “I’ll get serious about my faith later” and realize that He is “at hand” right now. As Lent approaches, let the Gospel be “good news” that invites you into a new way of living today.

Sharing

Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintances, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
