Psalm 131:1-2
LORD, my heart is not proud; nor are my eyes haughty. I do not busy myself with great matters, with things too sublime for me. Rather, I have stilled my soul. Like a weaned child to its mother, weaned is my soul.
Grace Prayed For: I pray for the following grace: to be more aware of how God is near; to trust in God’s personal care and love for me.

Reflection:
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath, feeling your chest rise and fall. Imagine yourself standing at the edge of a vast meadow, bathed in the soft golden light of dawn. The air is crisp and cool, carrying the scent of dew-kissed grass and wildflowers.
Let your gaze sweep across the meadow. Notice the intricate details: the sway of wildflowers in the gentle breeze, the glistening spiderwebs strung with morning dew, the vibrant colors of butterflies flitting between blooms. Immerse yourself in the simple beauty of this natural sanctuary.
Now, bring your attention inward. Feel the beat of your heart, a steady rhythm echoing the pulse of life. Imagine your own desires and ambitions like the wild, vibrant flowers across the meadow. Some tall and bold, others small and delicate, each vying for attention.
Slowly, begin to quiet your internal landscape. Imagine gently pulling each desire, each ambition, inwards, like coaxing a young child from the wild meadow towards a safe haven. Feel the initial resistance, the pull towards external distractions, but then a gradual easing, a surrendering to the peace within.
Imagine your soul becoming like a weaned child nestled against its mother’s chest. Feel the warmth of unconditional love and acceptance enveloping you. The wildness of your desires is not ignored, but cradled with understanding, held with gentle patience.
Open your eyes, carrying the serenity of this experience. Consider:
- What does it feel like to let go of your desires and ambitions, even momentarily?
- Imagine the peace of a heart not driven by pride or ambition, but resting in the simple beauty of the present moment.
- Can you identify areas in your life where you might need to “wean” your soul from external anxieties and find solace in the quiet presence within?
Remember, this reflection is not about suppressing your desires, but about finding a deeper peace within the vastness of your being. Let it guide you towards a heart like the meadow at dawn: vibrant, full of life, yet grounded in the love of the Lord for you.
Jesus last words on Earth were to his disciples, can be found in Matthew Chap 28 when Jesus told his disciples,”Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
Jesus calls all of us to share in his redemptive mission here on Earth. I would ask you to share this Scripture reflection with your family, your friends and your acquaintences, and then share it with a couple of individuals that you may may not be comfortable sharing with, keeping in mind always the words of Jesus, And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
