Evangelizing

The Great Commission: A 21st Century Guide:

Introduction

In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus gave his followers a clear and powerful command known as the Great Commission: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of1 the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded2 you” (Matthew 28:19-20). This commission is not merely a suggestion; it’s a call to action for all Christians to actively participate in the spread of the Gospel.

Our duty to evangelize stems directly from this command. As Christians, we are called to share the “Good News” of Jesus Christ with the world. This means not only proclaiming the Gospel message but also living it out in our daily lives.

However, evangelization in the 21st century presents unique challenges. We live in a world that is increasingly secular and pluralistic, where many people are indifferent or even hostile to the Christian message. Additionally, the rise of technology and social media has created new obstacles to face-to-face interaction, making it more difficult to build relationships and share the Gospel in a personal way.

Despite these challenges, the call to evangelize remains as urgent as ever. The world is in desperate need of the hope and salvation that only Jesus Christ can offer. Therefore, we invite all baptized Christians to join us in this mission. Let us be bold and courageous in sharing the Gospel, using all the tools and resources at our disposal. Let us be creative and innovative in finding new ways to reach people with the message of God’s love. And most importantly, let us be faithful to the Great Commission, knowing that God will bless our efforts as we seek to make disciples of all nations.
